While travelling from Tirunelveli to Chennai in Vande Bharat train, a passenger found an insect in the breakfast that was provided and this incident shocked many. A complaint was also made by the passenger. Now, the passengers want regular food safety checks in the trains to avoid these above-mentioned incidents.
It was brought out by train traveller and social activist Mr. Dayanand Krishnan that despite paying around Rs 300 for quality foods in the VB trains the quality of food supplied was not up to the mark. He spoke about how in express trains like Shatabdi etc the food that was supplied to the passengers was of high quality but not anymore. He was of the opinion that food quality checks must be carried out regularly in the trains and the passenger feedback must reach the IRCTC. It must be noted that RailMadad is a platform where the passengers could lodge their complaints. Not many passengers know about this platform.
According to a consumer activist Mr. Somasundaram necessary steps must be taken for ensuring food quality in the trains. He added that the passengers pay a lot of money for safe travel in the trains and food is an essential part of it.
Mr. K. Baskar secretary of Tiruvallur Rail Passengers Association mentioned that the contractors must take their responsibility when passengers report such incidents. He wants the firm to be backfired by the railways so that the firm does not take part in the next auction.
