Metrowater to Install Advanced Filtration System at Marina Beach Pool

Chennai Metrowater is set to establish a cutting-edge water filtration and recycling facility at the renovated swimming pool on Marina Beach. The project, costing ₹3.41 crore, aims to treat up to 4.5 million litres of water daily.

Originally built in 1942 and managed by the Greater Chennai Corporation since 1977, the pool is undergoing a major upgrade. Plans include improved services, additional trainers, and modern amenities. The outdated cleaning system, installed two decades ago, has necessitated manual cleaning, prompting this initiative.

The filtration facility will be maintained by Metrowater for five years, with work starting in January 2025.
