The Chennai Metro Rail has commenced tunneling work between Purasawalkam and Kellys as part of its ambitious ₹63,846-crore Phase-II project.
The project spans 118.9 km, featuring tunnels, viaducts, and stations designed to enhance connectivity across the city. Phase-II includes three corridors:
- Corridor 3: Madhavaram to SIPCOT via Purasawalkam and Adyar.
- Corridor 4: Light House to Poonamallee via Kodambakkam and T. Nagar.
- Corridor 5: Madhavaram to Sholinganallur via Koyambedu and Ullagaram.
This development marks a significant step in improving urban transit infrastructure and connecting key areas of Chennai.
