In preparation for the launch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail project next year, the metro pillars along the Poonamallee–Porur stretch are being painted in blue and white. Inspired by the metro`s logo and train colors, this aesthetic design was first used in the Phase I Extension Project (Washermanpet–Wimco Nagar).
The Poonamallee–Porur stretch is part of Corridor 4, which extends from Poonamallee to Light House via Porur, Kodambakkam, and T. Nagar. Officials aim to enhance the visual appeal of metro infrastructure, making it easily recognizable and relatable for commuters. While theme-based murals are planned for Phase I stations, similar proposals for Phase II are yet to be confirmed.
