The Tamil Nadu Traffic Police has issued a set of traffic regulations to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles as people return to Chennai over the weekend. The restrictions, which aim to ease congestion, will be in place from 2 PM today until January 20.
Key Traffic Regulations:
1. Heavy Vehicles Diversions:
- Vehicles coming towards Chennai must turn at Paranur Junction and travel via Sriperumbudur using the service road.
- Heavy vehicles from the S.P. Koil Oragadam Junction should travel via Oragadam and Sriperumbudur.
- Vehicles arriving via Thiruporur should divert at Dr. Ambedkar Statue and proceed through Chengalpattu.
2. Restricted Roads:
- Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on the following roads:
- GST Road
- Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road
- OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road)
- ECR (East Coast Road)
3. Pallavaram New Bridge:
- The bridge will be converted to one-way traffic towards Chennai from 2 PM today to 12 noon on Monday, based on traffic requirements.
4. Omni Bus Diversions:
- Omni buses will be routed via the Outer Ring Road to reduce congestion on GST Road.
