Chief election commissioner Nasim Zaidi who was in Chennai mentioned that the exercise of weeding out bogus names will not stop people willing to include their names in the electoral roll. There are around 26 lakh first-time voters in the state of which only 18 to 19 lakh have registered their names. We will have a special focus on these youngsters to include their names.
Name inclusion can be done up to 10 days before the process of nomination and the EC wants people to go online for registering. So far 17 lakh have applied for inclusion and 16 lakh applications have been accepted in Tamil Nadu.
