The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has alerted citizens about fraudulent calls falsely claiming to be from TRAI, threatening mobile disconnection and requesting personal information. TRAI clarified that it does not contact customers for such matters and has not authorized any third party to do so. Mobile disconnection issues are managed by respective Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). Citizens are advised to ignore such calls and verify with their TSPs. Suspected fraud can be reported via the Sanchar Saathi platform at https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/sfc/ or through the cybercrime helpline at 1930.
