Among the most preferred breakfast and dinner dishes is Chapathi. It is so versatile and healthy that people seek it even for lunch. And when it comes to kids, they absolutely love them! Toss some veggies and shredded cheese onto the Chapathi and they can directly go on to your kid’s lunchbox. You have perhaps tried a lot of different varieties of Chapathi dishes, but here is one thing that’s going to be a sure hit among your family members. Check out:

Required Ingredients

  • Chapathis
  • Potato - 3 Nos. (Boiled)
  • Chopped onions - ½ cup
  • Green Chillies - 2 Nos. (finely chopped)
  • Green peas - 1 cup (boiled)
  • Cheese - 5-6 tbsp (grated)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - ½ tbsp
  • Lime juice - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Garam masala - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - as required
  • Salt - as required

Cooking Method

  • Have your chapathis ready for the dish. (Note: Live Chennai has already posted the recipe to prepare soft Chapathis. Please refer to it for super-soft, spongy chapathis.)
  • Take a pan and add required amount of oil to it.
  • Once it gets hot, add cumin seeds and let them sputter.
  • To this, add ginger garlic paste, onions and green chillies and saute all of them well until the raw smell of the paste goes off.
  • Get 3 potatoes boiled and smash them and keep aside
  • Add the smashed potatoes to the onion mix and give it a good toss.
  • After 2 minutes, add green peas
  • To this, add green peas, garam masala and required amount of salt.
  • As you can see the masala getting nicely coated in the vegetables, add coriander and lemon juice. Add required amount of salt to the dish and cook for a few minutes.
  • Intermittently, keep stirring so that the masala doesn’t get stuck to the pan.
  • Once done, turn off the stove, and your masala filling is now ready.

The cheesy part is here!

  • Grab a super-soft chapathi and place it on a plate. Take a spoon full of the massala and spread it all over the chapathi.
  • To this, sprinkle a spoon full of cheese over the hot masala.
  • Get this chapathi rolled neatly. The cheese you have added will keep the chapathi rolling intact.
  • Likewise, repeat the same with all the chapathis.

Note: these chapathi cheese rolls do not need any separate side dish. But if you wish to have one, tomato sauce will be a good choice to go with.

This can be a perfect lunch box recipe or morning breakfast for not just your kids, but for elders in your family as well.
