A startup incubated at IIT Madras, Waterbly Technologies, has unveiled an innovative transportation system that could cut travel time between Kolkata and Chennai to just three hours, with an estimated fare of Rs 600. The proposed system aims to provide a fast, cost-effective, and efficient alternative to traditional travel methods.
Key Features of the Project:
Near-Water Flight: The craft would operate just a few meters above the water, reducing air resistance and eliminating the need for high-altitude air pressure management.
Lower Costs: Unlike conventional aircraft, the design requires less powerful engines and reduced construction expenses, making it more affordable.
Utilizing the Ocean as a Runway: The vast open space of the sea would serve as a natural runway, eliminating the need for extensive airport infrastructure.
If implemented, this cutting-edge transportation technology could revolutionize long-distance travel in India, offering a swift and budget-friendly alternative for passengers.
