The superb news that has come out is that the intake of PhD students under the chief minister research fellowship programme or CMRF in TN has been increased from 120 to 180 now. The objective behind this would be to encourage research students in TN. This was mentioned by the higher education minister Mr. Kovai Chezhiyan on Wednesday.
The minister spoke about how intake of research students has been increased and how the students pursuing courses in the govt aided colleges could also apply. The minister was busy taking part in the prize distribution event regarding CMRF yesterday.
While taking up higher education in TN, the students should not suffer from any financial issues etc. This was as per the minister. He added that the main aim of this would be to make more and more students to take up reseaech activities. The minister then threw light on how reservation policy would be adopted for the students opting for CMRF programme.
For carrying out research activities in TN for 3 years, each student would be receiving Rs 25000 under this superb scheme. The students would be selected by the teachers recruitment board or TRB.
While those students who carry out research under science stream would receive Rs 10000 per year under this scheme and those students who carry out their research under arts stream would receive Rs 12000 per year.
The training under Naan Mudhalvan scheme has started for the students and the student could avail this to crack both state as well as central level competitions.
