Over the years, the prices of the plots in SIDCO industrial estates in TN have increased and due to this many business people and entrepreneurs were not able to buy plots. This has resulted in many plots unsold. It is now said that the government of Tamil Nadu would be reducing the prices of plots in the industrial estates for the first time in 50 years.
There would be a reduction in the prices of plots in the SIDCO industrial estates by 55 to 7% and this would be based on the industrial estate. This was announced by the CM of TN Mr, M.K. Stalin yesterday.
Many micro, small and medium enterprises associations had requested the government (when DMK came to power) to reduce the prices of the plots in SIDCO industrial estates to help business people. This was mentioned in an official statement. Truth is that due the high costs of the plots in SIDCO industrial estates many plots remained unsold for many years.
The official statement brought out that the TN government had made it affordable for many entrepreneurs and others to purchase plots in various SIDCO industrial estates.
After a reduction of 75percent, a plot in the Uthangarai industrial estate that was previously available at Rs 1.1 crores is now available at Rs 30.81akhs.After 73% price reduction, the price of a plot in Kumbakonam has been reduced from Rs 3.04 crores per acre to Rs 81.98lakhs per acre now.
After 65% price reduction, the price of a plot in Nagapattinam has been reduced from Rs 2.39 crores to Rs 85.35 lakhs now. From Rs 9crores per acre of plot at Kurichi in Coimbatore district, the cost has been reduced to Rs 4.2crores now. The price of a plot has been reduced from Rs 4.8crores to Rs 2crores now at Vinnamangalam in Tirupathur district. From Rs 6 crores, the cost of a plot is reduced to Rs 3.5crores in Alathur belonging to Chengalpet district. In the erode district, the cost of a plot has been reduced from Rs 6.4crores to Rs 3.8crores now.
It is worthy to note that in the industrial estates belonging to Karaikudi, Pidaneri and Rajapalayam more than 400 plots remained vacant due to high cost. Now, prices of the plots have been reduced by 30% to 54% to help the business people. There has been a price reduction of 40% to 50% in Virudhunagar, Arakkonam and in Bargur.
