Headed by Mrs Nirmala Seetharaman, Central Finance Minister, a GST council meeting took place. It must be noted that the tax rates for various goods and services have been changed. As a result, the prices of certain items would increase and others would reduce.
It is revealed that the GST on cancer drugs changes from 18% to 5% now. The tax on bio-diesel would be reduced from 12% to 5%. It is known that biodiesel gets distributed to oil companies for mixing with diesel. There would be abolishment of the 18% tax on the capability development training by the government. Point is that the government spends more than 75% on this capability development training.
The GST would be increased from 5% to 12% for renewable energy equipment. The GST is increased for cartons, bags, and other packing containers from 12% to 18% now. From 12%, the GST for all types of pens is increased to 18%. The GST for pure henna powder would be 5% and artificial sweeteners would be 18%. There would be 28% GST along with 12% cess for the carbonated drinks with fruit juice.
For the batteries sold with UPS and inverters, GST would be 28% and for UPS and inverters GST would be 18%. Permission has been given for Swiggy and Zomato (companies that provide food to the customers online) to collect GST from the customers itself. These companies must not collect GST from the hotels and restaurants. Truth is that by this there would be any additional charges collected from the customers.
