The Tamil Nadu government will soon announce the location for the proposed Hosur airport, Industries Minister T R B Raaja confirmed. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has submitted a detailed report on two shortlisted sites, both deemed suitable for the project.
The selected site will cover around 2,000 acres, with factors like airspace and land availability under review. Once finalized, the state will seek approval from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), as the proposed airport falls within 150 km of Kempegowda International Airport.
Industry bodies have urged swift action, emphasizing the airport’s importance for regional growth. A final decision is expected within a month.
