Special Bus Services Begin for Deepavali Travelers from Chennai
In anticipation of Deepavali on October 31, special bus services have commenced today to assist travelers returning to their hometowns. Buses are operating from major Chennai bus terminuses, including Koyambedu, Kilambakkam, and Madhavaram.
Transport Minister’s Announcement:
Transport Minister SS Sivasankar, on October 21, announced a large-scale bus operation plan:
- Total Buses Across the State: 14,016
- Special Buses from Chennai: 11,176 (operating from October 28-30)
- Additional Daily Services in Chennai: 2,092 buses
Key Services Breakdown:
- From Chennai: 4,900 special buses
- Across Other Parts of the State: 2,910 special buses
- Overall Special Buses in Tamil Nadu: 7,740 (from October 28-30)
The transport service aims to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for all residents heading to their hometowns for the festive season.
