The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Tamil Nadu, forecasting very heavy rainfall on November 26 across multiple regions of the state, according to a report by Maalaimalar.
The alert comes as an upper-level cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the South Andaman Sea and its surrounding areas within the next 24 hours. This circulation is likely to result in the formation of a low-pressure area in the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 23.
The weather system is predicted to bring heavy rainfall to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal starting November 25, with the intensity escalating to very heavy rainfall on November 26.
