Traffic Diversions on Anna Salai Extended Till May 4 for Elevated Corridor Work

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has extended traffic diversions on Anna Salai until May 4, 2025, to facilitate the ongoing construction of a proposed four-lane elevated corridor between Teynampet and Saidapet along GST Road. The project is being undertaken by the Highways Department.

Originally planned as a 3-day trial from April 20 to April 22, the diversions will now continue for over two weeks to manage the heavy construction activity and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Diversion Details

From Teynampet to Saidapet:

Vehicles will be diverted via Cenotaph Road, Turnbulls Junction, Chamiers Road (Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Devar Road), Nandanam Junction, and then left/right turn onto Anna Salai to continue their journey.

From Saidapet to Chamiers Road:

Vehicles cannot take a direct route. They must go via Anna Salai, Cenotaph Road, and Chamiers Road.


One-Way and No Entry Restrictions

- GKM Bridge will be one-way entry only from Cenotaph Road. No entry from Gandhimandapam Road.

- Rathna Nagar Main Road will be one-way entry from Cenotaph Road. No entry from Anna Salai.

- Entry from Anna Salai will be allowed to Cenotaph 1st Street.

- No entry will be allowed from Anna Salai to Cenotaph 1st Main Road.

- Vehicles from Kotturpuram heading towards Teynampet via Cenotaph Road will be restricted. Instead, they must take left towards GKM Flyover Service Road, Turnbulls Junction, Chamiers Road, Nandanam Junction, and Anna Salai.

No Parking Zones

To ease congestion, Anna Salai, Cenotaph Road, Chamiers Road, and surrounding loop roads will be declared as no parking zones.
