To strengthen its presence in the dairy market, Aavin plans to capture 65% of market share in 5 years!!
According to a policy note presented by Mr. R S. Rajakannappan, minister for milk and dairy products, at the Assembly on Wednesday, 2nd of April 2025, Aavin has planned to capture 65% of market share over the next 5 years. It must be taken into note that Aavin has witnessed a surge in the milk packet sales in Chennai. Aaavin has been taking huge efforts to strengthen its presence in the dairy market is known.
The note brought to light how the TN Milk Producers Cooperative Federation and District Cooperative Milk Producers Unions operating under the name Aavin have been offering milk and dairy products to the customers at rates lower than those of the private competitors. That Aavin has been growing superbly in the last 3 years has been proved by its 15lakh new customers.
The policy note added that to meet the demands efforts have been taken continuously to increase the daily milk procurement to 50lakh litres.
To support the dairy farmers, instant acknowledge slips for producers, dairy loans through banks plus provision of green fodder, life stock insurance etc have been implemented.
It is worth noting that the TN govt has raised the milk procurement rate by Rs 3 per litre with an additional daily procurement of 5 lakh litres. Steps are being taken to reach 50 lakh litres after Aavin has procured 37.8lakh litres in the month of August
Aavin`s new ice cream manufacturing plant:
Not many would be aware that Aavin is setting up a new ice cream manufacturing plant (for an amount of Rs 43.41 cr) at Trichy and it would be commissioned in June 2025. It is hoped that this new ice cream manufacturing plant would boost the revenue of Trichy district union and produce high quality value added dairy products.
Establishment of a new dairy farm at Madhavaram:
Under the Dairy Infrastructure Development Fund for an amount of Rs 141.18 cr, a new dairy farm with a capacity of 10lakhs litres per day is being established at Madhavaram in Chennai. It would start operating from March 2026 onwards and would meet the growing milk demands of Chennai residents.
