The University of Madras has invited applications from educational institutions seeking affiliation for the upcoming academic year, with new guidelines. The notification applies to new Arts and Science colleges across Tamil Nadu, and existing affiliated colleges planning to introduce new courses must also apply.
This year, strict measures will be enforced—applications submitted after the due date will be rejected, even if supported by approvals from AICTE or other government bodies. Colleges that were previously denied affiliation will also have a fresh opportunity to apply.
University officials will conduct physical inspections of financial resources to ensure institutions can provide adequate infrastructure, such as buildings, laboratories, and medical care facilities. Colleges must also adhere to government-mandated fee structures, implement reservation policies, and follow a roster system for staff appointments. Institutions must ensure an adequate distance from similar colleges and provide information about nearby high schools within a 15 km radius.
