The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has initiated the redevelopment of Chetpet Eco-Park at an estimated cost of ₹20.17 crore. Covering 16 acres, the project is set to be completed within six months.
- New Attractions: Water sports facilities, musical fountains, bird-viewing decks, and an upgraded entrance with a tensile roof.
- Lakeside Enhancements: Eight-shaped reflexology pathway, outdoor gym, watchtower, play courts, and boating deck.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Renovation of admin block, multi-level parking, fisheries lab, aquarium, and handrails along the lake.
- Sustainability Features: Porous surfaces with green cover for water management, improved walkways with paver blocks.
- Public Amenities: Snack bar, food kiosk, children’s play area, recreation zone, gym, photo point, drinking water, and toilets.
This redevelopment aims to enhance recreational and eco-tourism facilities while promoting sustainable urban planning in Chennai.
