IRCTC, the largest e-commerce website in Asia Pacific Region, has told tickets for Rs. 15400 Crores.
This web site has been hugely popular.
Flipkart & Amazon have been doing e-commerce business worth thousands of crores.
IRCTC was the first to enter in e-commerce.
Its business exceeds the combined business of Flipkart & Amazon.
IRCTC did ticket booking for Rs. 15410 Crores in the last financial year.
The business was Rs. 12419 Crores in the previous year.
Thus, a 24% increase is recorded.
When IRCTC on-line booking started in 2002, 27 tickets were booked per day. During last March alone, Rs. 5.8 Lakhs worth tickets were sold in a single day which is a unique feat.
2.1 Crore individuals have registered in IRCTC.
Flipkart & Amazon are reported to be interested in getting these customer details from IRCTC.
IRCTC’s PR Manager, Mr. Sandheep Gupta, informed that there were discussions with some e-commerce companies including Flipkart & Amazon. IRCTC remains the largest e-commerce website.
