India`s first desi cruise liner is set to begin its new voyage next week operating from Chennai, the cruise liner, AMET Majesty, will offer packages to the Andamans, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand and a few Indian ports.

The cruise liner, Amet Majesty will be able to take 1,000 people on board, but will be launched with only 500 berths. It has four luxury restaurants, dance bars, swimming pools, spas and just anything that you would find on international luxury cruise liners.

"When there are about 80,000 Indians flying to Singapore every year to catch a cruise liner to reach the high seas, the Indian maritime industry should not ignore the demand," said J Ramachandran , the owner of the liner and chairman of Amet University.

Operating from Chennai, the cruise liner will take tourists to the high seas and offer packages to the Andamans, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand and a few Indian ports. Considering the weather along the two coastlines of the country, Amet Majesty has scheduled separate seasonal operations, one for the Bay of Bengal and the other for the Arabian Sea.
