The broadband service Reliance Jio will offer internet at a speed of up to 1Gbps. The services are likely to commence by end of this year. The chairman of Reliance, Mukesh Ambani is eyeing to grab 100 million wireless broadband customers. According to what Arjun Hemrajani, CTO of Hipcask has posted on social media, Reliance Jio is currently testing the services at Pune and Mumbai.

A few days ago, I had received free 100Mbps Jio FTTH home broadband, says Arjun Hemrajani’s tweet. In one other tweet, he has posted a snapshot of speed test result that shows the download speed as 743 Mbps and upload speed as 73 Mbps. It is not a fresh concept to have 1Gbps. Such high speed is already in existence in nations like the US, Hong Kong, South Korea, etc.
