Flipkart and Amazon to compete in giving offers

Festive season is fast approaching and it’s time for shopping. The two leading online marketplace in India, Flipkart and Amazon will go into a direct rival next month, October with each of their flagship sales event.
 
Now, Amazon India with its Great Festival Sale falling on 1st October is likely that it will head off the Big Billion Day event by Flipkart which will begin on 3rd October, as per reliable sources in the industry.
 
While Flipkart is avid about providing better customer experience, Amazon is keen about its marketing and advertising.
 
Getting into exclusive tie-ups with brands, provide equated monthly installments and expanding its loyal customer base are Flipkart’s target this time. The giant believes easy EMI to be of help in extending affordable products to larger audience. The Re 1 offer that was first announced in BBD sale 2014 is expected this time as well.
 
A sum of Rs 30 crore is to be invested for the BBD, says one of the Flipkart Sources. This is excluding its expenses for digital marketing. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, a former senior executive of Tiger Global Management who has recently returned to the advertisement and marketplace unit in June is now leading the BBD initiative.
