One of the notable Indian telecom service providers, Idea verily welcomes Reliance Jio and its trendsetting offers. Idea at the same time is glued towards extending its services in full swing in this rapidly growing sector. Idea had been into providing Points of Interconnect (POI). It is also likely that Idea will continue extending their support for popping requirements from POIs.
About 2.97 million Jio customers stopped calls to Idea networks. In general, Idea’s POIs meet the needs of over 4.65 million subscribers. Now, Idea has decided to turn proactive in expanding its capacity along with Jio. It aims at achieving 6.5 million subscribers and acquire 196 new POIs very soon. This is likely to give it a buffer of 119 percent as compared to August volume of subscribers.
According to TRAI reports in August 2016, an unseen asymmetry of traffic which was 14.5 times between Jio and Idea. No such asymmetry is observed so far in the past with a new operator. Idea is at present experiencing increase in cost because of high traffic asymmetry. If this is not kept under control, it is likely to worsen the loss in the coming months.
