Targeting to attract more tourists and travelers, the Indian Railways has decided to introduce train compartments with glass roof along with a number of entertainment features. IRCTC Chairman, Dr. A.K. Manocha, in his note about this, stated that the railway department has decided to encourage tourism schemes and hence has launched the new plan. This system will attract both Indian as well as foreign travelers.

Works to manufacture these train compartments began in 2015. The design for these compartments were developed by IRCTC, RDSO (Research, Design and Standard Organization), and ICF, Perambalur. The first compartment will be ready by the end of ths month. Further, three more similar compartments will be ready by December month this year, say officials.

Further, the chairman stated that the first compartment will be joined with the normal train functional at Kashmir Valley and the others are likely to be joined with trains from southern railways.

Such trains with glass roof are already functional in foreign countries. By introducing the same in India, it is promising that we will observe considerable change. At the same time, the Indian Railways is also targeting to design train compartments with aerial view.
