With schools being reopened across Tamil Nadu, kids get a surprising gift from the Chennai City Corporation which is a dedicated cycle track without any sort of encroachment.

First of its kind:
The very first cycle track is of 3.8 km that runs through P.T. Rajan Salai, Lakshmanaswamy Salai and Ramaswamy Salai in KK Nagar. Earlier this year, the works to lay these tracks got over, but these however were not opened for use as eateries and illegally parked vehicles inundated the way.

Kids and parents overwhelmed!
It was surprising to notice many school students using the cycle track to reach their school. Parents also feel relaxed as it is highly safe for them to drive to school in these tracks. Even kids feel pleasured to drive in the exclusive track for commuting in cycle.

All vehicles illegally parked along the cycle track were towed away. There were whopping 100 and above such vehicles cracked down by the traffic police. The Chennai Corporation and Traffic police together have decided to bring forth improved awareness among students about the use of cycle track.

The city’s first cycle tracks were eyed on KK Nagar and Anna Nagar, as both these have wide roads and because they contain many educational institutions. KK Nagar has won over Anna Nagar because metro works are ongoing at the latter.
