MTC Bus Smashed A Student

A 19-year-old Mathiyalagan (19), a 1st year BSc student of Pachaiyappa’s College.was killed by an MTC bus, which smashed him on to the compound wall of the Puzhal police station, here on Thursday afternoon.
A group of students from Pachaiyappa’s College boarded an MTC bus (route 57F) plying between High Court and Karanodai, at Moolakarai. Soon after they boarded the bus, the students began creating nuisance and even broke some lights inside the bus.
The bus driver Janakiraman, who decided to teach them a lesson, steered the bus off the road to enter the Puzhal Police Station on the left side of the main road.Sensing trouble, the students began alighting from the bus and began scooting, while the vehicle was on the move.
While four students made good their escape, the fifth one was caught between the bus and the compound wall of the police station.The profusely-bleeding boy was rushed to a private hospital 5 km away from the spot, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
A case was registered by the Madhavaram Traffic Investigation police, who are quizzing the bus driver.As news of the student’s death spread, tension prevailed in the area. Additional security was deployed at the Puzhal Police Station, apprehending retaliation from the students.The Puzhal Police have also registered a nuisance case and are on the lookout for the miscreants.
