Rains in Cauvery catchment again (Tamil Nadu Weatherman)

Inflow in Karnataka dams are expected to increase and more water is expected to be released from Kabini to Mettur dam. Rains in Cauvery catchment expected to continue for 2-3 more days.

1. Cauvery Catchment (Kabini)

Wayanad continues to rock with Thariode recording 116 mm rainfall and Mananthavady too recording close to 100 mm rainfall. The inflow into the dam increased to 10600 cusecs and they are releasing 6200 cusecs today morning which will be increasing in next two-three days. The dam is 95 % full with storage of 18.5 tmc against full capacity of 19.5 tmc.

2. Cauvery Catchment (KRS)

Heavy rains continue Kodagu (Coorg), Bhagamandala reporting over 150 mm rainfall for past two days. The inflow is 4000 cusecs and is expected to increase further. The dam is 56 % full with storage of 27.6 tmc against full capacity of 49.5 tmc.

3.Cauvery Catchment (Hemavathy)

Many good rains are reported in Chikmagalur and Hassan district with some places recording over 100 mm rainfall. Hence the inflow jumped to 6300 cusecs. The dam is 60 % full with storage of 22.3 tmc against full capacity of 37.1 tmc.

4.Cauvery Catchment (Harangi)
-------------------
Good rains reported in somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district and the inflow into the dam is increased to 3300 cusecs. The dam is 52 % full with storage of 4.5 tmc against full capacity of 8.5 tmc.

One more good spell, then Harangi and Hemavathy will be full, they will inturn contribute flow to KRS dam.


Dam Level Update - Tamil Nadu (in order of size) - Sholayar dam to overflow within 2 days. Sirvani dam too is about to overflow soon.

1. Mettur dam inflow has dropped to 3278 cusecs and has now 24% water with a storage of 22.4 tmc against a full capacity of 93.5 tmc. The inflow is expected to increase further from Saturday.

2. Bhavanisagar Dam has 42% water with a storage of 13.6 tmc as against a full capacity of 32.8 tmc. Rains have slightly picked up in Nilgiris with 40-50 mm rains in the catchment for past few days and more inflow is expected into Piloor Dam and inturn to Bhavanisagar dam.

3. Parambikulam Dam now has 27% water with 3.7 tmc storage as against full storage capacity of 13.4 tmc.

4. Periyar dam has 50% water with a storage of 3.9 tmc against a full capacity of 7.7 tmc.

5. Vaigai dam storage is 30% with 1.8 tmc against full storage of 6.1 tmc.

6. Manimuthar Dam has 47% water with storage of 2.6 tmc against full level capacity of 5.5 tmc . The inflow is meager 100 cusecs.

7. Papanasam Dam has 48 % water with storage of 2.7 tmc against full level capacity of 5.5 tmc. The inflow is at 400 cusecs

8. Avalanche & Emerald dam is 44% full now with storage of 2.4 tmc against full capacity of 5.4 tmc. The inflow is around 400 cusecs.

9. Sholayar Dam is one place which is getting non-stop rains even today it has got 50 mm rainfall. The dam is now 96% full with storage of 4.9 tmc against full level capacity of 5.1 tmc. The inflow is 1800 0 cusecs.

10. Pechiparai Dam has 18% water with storage of 0.8 tmc against full level capacity of 4.5 tmc.

11. Amaravathy Dam has 27% water with storage of 1.1 tmc against full level capacity of 4.1 tmc.

12. Aliyar Dam has 27% water with storage of 1.0 tmc against full level capacity of 3.9 tmc

13. Perunchani Dam has 94% water with storage of 2.7 tmc against full level capacity of 2.9 tmc.

14. Servalar Dam has 43% water with storage of 0.5 tmc against full level capacity of 1.2 tmc.

15. Piloor Dam is 80% full now with storage of 0.8 tmc against full capacity of 1 tmc.

16. Siruvani is 92% full now with storage of 0.83 tmc against full capacity of 0.9 tmc.

17. Chittar II dam in Kanyakumari is 87% full now with storage of 0.5 tmc against full capacity of 0.6 tmc.

18. Vadakku Pachaiyar is just 3% full now with storage of 0.01 tmc against full capacity of 0.44 tmc.

19. Chittar I dam is 85% full now with storage of 0.34 tmc against full capacity of 0.39 tmc.

20. Gadna Dam is 48% full now with storage of 0.17 tmc against full capacity of 0.35 tmc.
