Two humanoid robots are placed for the duty of assisting the passenger at Chennai Airport domestic terminal. The robots were deputed on Wednesday for guiding passengers at departure and arrival sections of the domestic terminal. The robots are named as “Mitra”, a trial version for the larger scale application throughout the airport premises.

One of the robots guides the passengers in the departure hall and the other one at arrival hall. The robots greeted passengers on Independence Day interacting with them.

After obtaining the responses and feedback from the passengers AAI (Airport Authority of India) will incorporate humanoid robots at international terminal. According to an Official the robots are designed now as a trial versions and later re-programmed entirely in a form of artificial intelligence interacting and guiding passengers for various queries and requests for the journey

Children were thrilled to see the robots communicating with them. The robot guidance is already on usage in Germany with a humanoid robot called ‘Josie Pepper’. Delhi International airport also will introduce a robot in future called ‘RADA’.
