Monorail bids to come up in March

The Tamil Nadu government will float bids for technical and financial aspects of the monorail in March 2013. The work will most likely start in June. The first phase of the project is said to cover 57 kms and is estimated to cost Rs. 8,500 crores.
A source said, ‘Everything is ready. The transport department will float the final tenders for technical and financial qualification in about 10 days. The duration of tendering will be 60 days after which the negotiations will begin with the highest quoted bidder. The work is likely to begin in June.’
