Dr. M. G. Ramachandran or MGR was the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. He was born on 17th January in the year 1917. He later made huge impact with his acting in many Tamil films. With his amazing popularity, he touched the hearts of many people and finally with huge support he became the chief minister of TN in the year 1977 and served the state till 1987. Today, 24th of December is the 31st death anniversary of this great leader of TN. Today, the political parties AIADMK or All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and AMMK or Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam have planned many programmes on the popular Marina Beach. The police personnel have told the public to avoid the stretch though there would not be any traffic diversions.
At 9am today, AIADMK has organised a programme in the view of MGR’s death anniversary. It is revealed that the party cadre would take pledge and the present chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswamy and deputy chief minister Mr. O. Paneerselvam would take part in the event and offer floral tributes at the MGR memorial. The information gathered was around 10am today, AMMK general secretary Mr. TTV. Dinakaran would be making his presence felt and would be offering floral tributes to the former chief minister of TN at the MGR memorial. Many cadres belonging to both the parties would be taking part in the events.
A traffic police officer spoke about how the department has not planned any diversions today as huge crowds were not expected. He then added that diversion of the vehicles would be carried out only if it is required. This event would not attract many people unlike the death anniversary of former chief minister of TN, Dr. Jayalalitha. This was also confirmed by the police officer.
