Soon, the Communicable Diseases Hospital belonging to Tondiarpet, Chennai would be having many mildly affected Corona virus patients.

It is revealed that in another 3 weeks of time those with milder cases of Covid-19 would not be sent to the government hospitals for intensive care but would be sent to the above said hospital of Tondiarpet and to Corporation run schools converted into Covid-19 care centers.

By this, all the asymptomatic cases that are not severe would be under medical supervision and doctors as well as para medical staffs would be able to concentrate on others. This was later pointed out by Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. G. Prakash. Important point is this would be as per the advice issued by ICMR.

On Thursday, 30th April 2020, Chennai Corporation commissioner mentioned that about 98 percent of all positive Covid-19 cases in Chennai were asymptomatic.

The data belonging to Chennai Corporation revealed about how 75 % of positive cases in Chennai were not senior people or even in the 50-60 risky age group. Important information collected is 55 % of Corona virus positive cases were below the age of 40.

Mr. Prakash explained about how as many as 22,000 beds would soon be readied as Covid-19 care centres. The rooms present in many GCC schools, other schools, colleges, slum clearance board buildings are being converted into care centres now. In another 2 to 3 weeks, conversion works would be completed fully.

A senior intensivist of MGM Health Care, Dr. V. Sabanayagam explained about how this decision was superb. He highlighted that majority of patients around 85 % have got just mild symptoms of flu and they need to be in quarantined facility to avoid infecting others. Point is the rest 15% patients are those who would have to be monitored closely by the doctors and they might need ventilators etc.
