More than 4000 Coronavirus patients who are in home quarantine in Chennai now are finding their daily lives very difficult. These patients struggle even for their foods as they are not allowed to go outside their homes. It is now revealed that the stigma associated with Coronavirus infection has been creating huge fear.

A resident belonging to Sholinganallur zone expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how a few days back he was tested Covid-19 positive and how he was put under home quarantine as he was asymptomatic. He explained that in the initial couple of days he was able to manage with the stock he already had. His wife had tested negative and both were not allowed to go out due to opposition from their neighbours

He later pointed out that some of the neighbours even complained about them to the Corporation officials when his wife tried to go out to buy items. It must be taken into account that he and his wife later got help from a corporation worker in getting food items etc and this worker was assigned by the assistant engineer of the civic body.

It was brought out by another Coronavirus patient that after testing positive he was taken to a hospital and treated for 4 days as he showed symptoms. He returned to home quarantine along with his wife and son who also spent 4 days in the hospital.

He concluded that due to the stigma associated with Coronavirus he and his family could not go out even after completing 14 days of home isolation. In the Chennai city, there are as many as 8396 active cases of which more than 50% of the infected persons are under home quarantine. This was as per the data from the corporation of Chennai.
