As the state of Tamil Nadu has reported as many as 5589 fresh Covid-19 positive cases and 70 deaths on Monday, the public health officials in TN are campaigning hard to make people follow SOP and pandemic rules.

Important information is Maharashtra reported as many as 11,921 fresh Covid-19 positive cases followed by Karnataka with 6892 fresh cases. The state of TN was third in the list. It was later highlighted by Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, health secretary of TN, in the initial stages the incidences of Covids019 was higher in those places where the living conditions were poor.

He added that those who lived in houses smaller than 150sq ft, those who shared common toilets or those who crowded markets were infected. Now, the way GCC sees the spread of the infection is different.

The people who attend marriages or funerals or visiting places of worship get affected by Coronavirus infection more now. This has been brought out by the contract tracing by the Covid control room and inputs from the district health authorities. The temples follow SOP but there are crowds at the places around the shops.

Truth is that the people forget to wear facemasks and maintain social distancing. Mr. Radhakrishnan later spoke about how inspite of fines collected from the people for violation of rules they do not change their attitude.

It is now said that TN is planning for a series of awareness messages on the high risk behaviours like lowering facemasks while talking or rubbing the nose without washing hands etc.

Point is the district authorities have been asked to urge the public to follow rules when they go out for morning walks or when they buy newspapers etc. Sensitising the people to avoid crowded places is very important and GCC would be doing this in the coming days.
