Thai Lion Air Launches New Direct Flight from Chennai to Bangkok
To cater to the growing demand from travelers, low-cost carrier Thai Lion Air has introduced a new direct flight connecting Chennai and Bangkok, starting December 16. With this, Thai Lion Air becomes the fourth airline to operate direct flights on this popular route, joining Thai Airways, AirAsia, and Indigo Airlines.
Flight Schedule and Expansion Plans
Initially, the Thai Lion Air service will operate four days a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline has plans to increase the frequency to daily flights soon.
The flight from Bangkok will arrive in Chennai at 1 am, while the return flight will depart from Chennai at 2 am, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Rising Popularity of the Chennai-Bangkok Route
Thailand continues to be a favorite international destination for Indian travelers, and this new addition further boosts connectivity between Chennai and Bangkok. Thai Lion Air aims to capture a share of the steadily increasing demand for budget-friendly international travel.
Cathay Pacific Upscales Chennai-Hong Kong Service
In a related development, Cathay Pacific has increased capacity on its Chennai-Hong Kong route to meet the surge in passenger demand. The airline has replaced the Airbus A330-300 with the larger Airbus A350-900, which can accommodate up to 350 passengers.
Currently operating three times a week, Cathay Pacific`s Chennai-Hong Kong service is also expected to transition to a daily schedule soon, offering greater convenience for travelers.
These developments underline the growing importance of Chennai as a hub for international travel and the increasing connectivity to popular Asian destinations.
