Do you know how many followed COVID facemask protocols in Chennai?

Recently, a survey was conducted by GCC along with ICMR and NIE. It was clear from the survey that just one-third of Chennaites were facemasks in a correct manner while outdoors. In the non slum regions belonging to south Chennai, there is now highest mask compliance. Here, just 42percet of the residents wear facemasks.
In the slum areas belonging to the north Chennai region just 23percent of the residents wear face masks and that is the lowest. Truth is that there is not much difference in wearing the masks correctly between the north and south Chennai residents.
As many as 60 streets in Chennai were chosen randomly for the survey by the GCC, ICMR and NIE. Information collected is 2 streets in the slum and in the non-slum areas were selected. It is worthy to mention that at each survey point 30 consecutive individuals were observed twice in a day in the morning and in the evening. Totally, 3600 individuals were observed from the 60 streets in Chennai.
As many as 1800 residents were from the slum areas and the rest were from non slum places in Chennai city. It must be taken into account that the survey was conducted in the locations like the residential areas, markets, bus stops, traffic signals etc.
Survey highlighted that 72% in slums and 64% in non-slums did not wear masks covering their nose and mouth. Truth is that among 1800 persons observed in the slum areas 497 persons wore masks covering their nose and mouth or in the correct manner.
