Consumers would be barred from paying electricity bills if they havent linked their Aadhaar number & electricity connections!!

Enough time has been provided by Tangedco to the electricity consumers across Chennai and across TN to link their Aadhaar number and electricity connection. Inspite of this, many consumers have not yet linked these two important details.
The shocking news is that the electricity consumers would be barred from paying their electricity bills if they have not linked their Aadhaar numbers with the electricity connections by 15th of February. This was mentioned by Tangedco. Tangedco staff are now taking huge efforts to link the Aadhaar numbers and electricity connections of the consumers and they want 100% Aadhaar compliance before the last date.
No further extension would be provided to the electricity consumers for Aadhaar linking and this was according to Mr. Senthil Balaji, electricity minister. Now, field level staff inside the jurisdiction of each section office is visiting every doorsteps to ensure the linking of these two gets completed before the deadline. Alerts through SMSes are also sent to many consumers now.
It was later mentioned by some consumers from Triplciane in Chennai that they have been receiving messages in their Whatsapp to share their Aadhaar numbers to the officers for the linking process. For paying the electricity bills online without any issue, the consumers have been asked to link Aadhaar before 15th February 2023.
Previously, the deadline to link Aadhaar number and electricity connection was extended till 31st January 2023 from 31st December 2022. That was due to the fact that by 31st December just 50% of the 2.67 cr consumers in TN have linked these 2 details. After 31st January 2023, about 20 lakhs connections remained to be verified and the deadline was extended till 15th February. It is learnt that even now, 4.33lakhs of 9.44lakhs huit dwellers and 5lakhs of 23.28lakh agri consumers in the state of TN have not linked these two details.
