The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that they will be removing all abandoned vehicles parked on the roads and public places in the city. The move comes after the civic body identified that such vehicles are causing inconvenience to the public and leading to traffic congestion. In the first phase, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles parked unattended for a long time will be removed by the Chennai Corporation along with city police officers.
Vehicle owners who have parked their vehicles for a long time on the roadside have been given 15 days to remove them voluntarily, failing which legal action will be taken against them. The removed vehicles will be auctioned off in accordance with legal procedures. The GCC has urged vehicle owners to cooperate in keeping the city free of litter and traffic-free.
