Intense security in Chennai now for Independence Day!!

Independence day is fast approaching and the security is now getting beefed up in Chennai.

For the upcoming 76th Independence day on 15th August, Tuesday, there would be as many as 9000 police personnel deployed for the security duty in Chennai.

The official press release has mentioned that Fort St George and its surrounding places would have a five layer security. It must be noted that the chief minister of TN Mr. MK. Stalin would hoist the national flag at Fort St. George and deliver an address.

In the places where people gather in huge numbers like airports, railway stations, bus terminuses, commercial establishments, coastal places, religious places etc, intensive checks would be carried out.

There would also be checks in lodges, mansions etc and police have asked the managers and staff of these hotels and mansions etc to inform them about the movement of any suspicious persons.

There would be traffic changes on the roads near the secretariat tomorrow from 6am until the closure of the celebrations. It is learnt that the stretch of Kamarajar Salai from the Napier Bridge to RBI subway north on the Rajaji Salai and Flag Staff Road would be closed for all vehicles except those that have passes.
