The footfalls at the metro stations in Chennai have increased in recent times. Many people started to use metro trains now to reach their destinations in the city. Though this is a superb news, the passengers are not happy now. The reason for their unhappiness now is due to poor infrastructure maintenance at several metro stations plus due to delay in repair of escalators etc.
The high footfalls have led to frequent repair of escalators and lifts etc at the metro stations in Chennai. The passengers are upset about the CMRL not acting promptly to take action.
The NE monsoon is fast approaching now and now the passengers have requested CMRL to take proactive measures to prevent water leakage and prevent water stagnation etc.
According to a resident from Avadi, the escalators at Chennai Central metro station were not operating properly resulting in huge issues for the public. It is highly necessary that in those metro stations with high footfalls CMRL must ensure that escalators etc are in proper condition. As per another metro train passenger, the efficiency of the CMRL would come out only during these tough times.
