The sensational that is going to happen at the Govt Arts College in Nandanam in Chennai!!
From the academic year 2024-25 onwards, the famous Govt Arts College and Men (Autonomous)at Nandanam in Chennai would introduce co-education. It is learnt that many requests have been made by the girl students and parents regarding this.
Recently, at a high level meeting that took place this sensational decision was taken. Point is that a proposal has been sent to the Higher Education Dept.
It must be recalled that a GO from Higher Education Dept mentioned that in 1969 the Quaid-E-Milleth College for Women was bifurcated into two to start Govt Arts College and Men (Autonomous) at Nandanam in Chennai. This was carried out to enable male students from Chennai and outskirts to pursue various courses.
The GO brought out that since the govt has taken steps to establish state owned Arts and Sciences College in outskirts in Kundrathur and other places, the admission to the present Nandanam Arts College has decreased. It must be noted that there were dropouts in the college in recent years.
Information gathered is that to increase the admissions and reduce dropouts from the college it was also decided to encourage female students in Chennai and suburbs to get admission in the college. The sensational piece of information is that the college name has been changed to Govt Arts College Nandanam.
