Who would have thought that in the month of September (and not in the months of April or May) the solar power generation and consumption would peak in Tamil Nadu?
This has happened now across Tamil Nadu and it has grabbed the attention. Currently, most parts belonging to TN are reeling under hot weather conditions. It is sensational to note that on Sunday the solar power generation touched a new all time record of 6401 MW. It must be recalled that just a few days before Sunday the solar power generation broke the 6000 MW barrier for the very first time.
Not only solar power generation but also solar energy absorption touched new heights on Sunday and it was 45.9million units.
On 15th of September, an all time high generation of 6401 MW was recorded in TN and this was according to Tangedco. On 12th of September, the previous highest ever was recorded and it was 6090 MW. Information collected is that on 12th September solar energy consumption has increased from previous high of 45.47 MU.
Hot weather conditions have been responsible for the increase in the solar power generation and consumption in Tamil Nadu now. This was as per a senior official belonging to Tangedco. He spoke about how installed solar capacity has increased every month in Tamil Nadu and was responsible for breaking the generation and consumption records.
As against the previous consumption of 327 million units or MU on Sunday, 8th September, the consumption on Sunday, 15th September was 369 MU in Tamil Nadu. It is learnt that the increase in the energy consumption was mainly because of the hot and humid weather conditions across Tamil Nadu. The uncomfortable weather would prevail across Tamil Nadu and this was as per Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai.
