50 new mini-buses to operate: CM Jayalalithaa inaugurates

50 new mini-buses, under the Government Transport Corporations, were released for operation by the Chief Minster J. Jayalalithaa. She also released 107 renovated buses.

The press release from the government:

To fulfill the public needs, The state government has introduced new routes and new buses.

50 new mini-buses are run at a cost of Rs. 7.20 Crores in Chennai city’s suburban areas  linking the nearest railway stations. 109 old buses have been renovated at the cost of Rs. 8.2 Crores. 185 new buses have been procured at the cost of Rs. 35.56 Crores.

Some bus depots at Besant Nagar (Rs. 69 Lakhs), Adambakkam (Rs. 86 Lakhs), Neyveli (Rs. 58 Lakhs), and Orikkai (Rs. 94 Lakhs) have been rebuilt. The 7 depots were inaugurated by the Chief Minister. The total cost of reconstruction for the 7 depots is Rs. 56.75 Crores.
