‘Lost River’ authored by Michel Dannino has been released in a function organized by C P Ram swami Aiyar Foundation. The book traces the existence of the river Saraswati which is mentioned in Rig Veda and in Mahabharata. In fact in Mahabharata it is mentioned that the battle between Bhima nad Dhuryodhana took place on the bank of river Saraswati. The authors’ one of the other releases is ‘The Invasion that never was’. The author said that the river could have disappeared due to massive earthquake or due to small continuous tectonic movements. He said that part of the waters of the river Sutlej and of the river Yamuna used to join the Ghaggar, which corresponds to the Saraswati, which was cut off at some point of time. This was one of the factors that contributed to the river`s retreat. The Sarasvati river basin is also one of the heartlands of the Indus or Harappa civilization.
The book was released by Former Scientist of ISRO A K Gupta and received by Nanditha Krishna, honorary director of the Foundation.
