Prices of flowers go up in Tamil Nadu – Shortage due to the Aadi month festivals!

Prices of flowers have gone up in Chennai.

Roses from Ooty and other flowers from Periyapalayam are transported to Koyambedu wholesale market in Chennai.

As the festivals of Aadi Month are being celebrated, large quantities of flowers are bought in the temple areas. This has created shortage.
 
Prices have shot up by Rs. 40/- from yesterday’s prices.

Star rose, sold at Rs. 80/- per kg is sold today at Rs. 120/-.

‘Samanthi’  is sold at Rs. 300/- per kg.

Kanakambaram sells at Rs. 60/- per 100 grams.

Jasmine sells at Rs. 120/- per 300 grams.

Arali costs Rs. 150/- per pocket.

Lotus is sold at Rs. 10/- per piece.

With some more festivals like ‘Varalakshmi Viratham’ scheduled in the coming weeks, the prices of flowers are expected to go up further!
