4.85 Crore individuals given Aadhar cards in Tamil Nadu!

The recent development indicates that Aadhar cards will be essentially required in all types of activities.
Currently, it is required for direct subsidy payment for LPG Cooking gas cylinder purchase.
Aadhar Cards are required in various other operations/concessions such as Voter’s list, Ration Card, Job guarantee in 100 days, Driver’s Licence, opening bank savings account, for land registration in bond papers, for getting PAN card, and other central government subsidies and concessions.
A camp is scheduled to be conducted in April for registering Aadhar Card number in Voter ID. Public have also been showing increasing awareness about Aadhar cards. However, most of them are not aware about the procedure how to get them.
Census Department Joint Director, Mr. M R V Krishna Rao, explained:
Aadhar card distribution activity in Tamil Nadu commenced in 2010. As on 1st March, 4,85,96,395 individuals have been given Aadhar cards. This amounts to 77.35%. 24,46,000 Aadhar cards have been distributed in Chennai.
Central government has been insisting on completing this in March.However, there are still 1.15 Crore individuals to be given Aadhar cards. Hence, this task may be extended till November.
Hence, it can be expected that the distribution of Aadhar cards for entire population will be completed by November.
Public need not rush to Aadhar offices. They can attend the Aadhar card camps in their locality and complete the formal application.
10 permanent Aadhar cards centres will be set up in Chennai. 522 centres will be set up throughout Tamil Nadu.
Currently, the system works between 10.00 AM & 5.00 PM.
Application for Aadhar card can be made with proofs like ration card, bank card, voter Id, etc. to get the photographs taken.
2 months after the completion of this task, Aadhar cards will be sent to the individuals to their addresses. Any errors in the card can be corrected on-line.
