STALIN PRERSENTS FLOOD DAMAGE REPORT TO CENTRAL TEAM

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made presentation to the Central team members at the Secretariat on Thursday. The central team lead by L Viswananthan, joint secretary, Union Misitry of Home affairs, who are here to visit the places affected by recent rains in the next three days. They held discussion with Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and the officials of Tamilnadu.

According to an official release, the North East monsoon this year was so furious that it resulted in the destruction of more than 20000 huts, loss of more than 200 human lives    and more than 5000 cattle in 23 districts, claiming 203 human lives and 5,068 cattle. Crops on about 5.04 lakh hectares were inundated with water that it damaged the crops. Mr. Stalin is seeking Rs. 1,635 crore from center as assistance to carry out immediate relief and rehabilitation works.

The visiting central team will again sit with the state officials on December 20 after visiting the fold affected areas.
