Division-wise details of areas in Chennai where flood-water has not receded

After the incessant heavy rains which pounded the entire city of Chennai and almost submerging the entire city under floods, the situation has improved somewhat over the last few days.

The flood water has receded and drained off in several places.However, there are still some areas where the flood water is yet to recede.The relief work is also getting delayed in these areas.

In this scenario, the details of the areas where flood water has not receded have come out.
Out of the 859 wards affected by flood water, it has receded in 787 wards. The balance 72 wards are still having flood water which has not receded.

Half-a-feet of water is still stagnant in the areas of Kodungaiyur Rickshaw colony, Panikkaran Nagar, and Ezhil Nagar A block. Simila condictions exist in Madhuravoyal area including Kandaswamy Nagar, Ayyavu Nagar, Ganapathy Nagr, and Balaji Nagar.

1` to 2` of water remains at Poonamallee area including Parivakkam, Melmanagar, Chinnarajnagar, Police Quarters, Periyar Nagar, Ammankoil Street, Palayathamman Nagar, Mulla Garden, Sri Nagar, VGN Avenue, Sakthi Corn, Royal Garden, P G Avenue, Ramadass nagar, Janakli Nagar 2nd Street, Stalin Nagar, and Chandran Nagar.

2` water is stagnant in the Mangadu area including Om Sakthi Nagar, Janani Nagar, Syed Sadiq Nagar, Srinivasa Nagar, Periyakulathu Vancheri, Mathura Nagar, Ayyappan Nagar, Ganapathy Nagar, Thiruvalluvar Nagar, E V P Rajeswari Nagar, and CRR Puram.

2’ water is stagnant at Kotturpuram Dhandayudhapani Street.Half-a-foot water is stagnated at Neelankarai are including Palkalainagar, Maraikkayar Street, Kagira Gardens, Ranga Reddy garden, Kathuribai Nagar, Karpaga Vinayagar Nagar, M G Nagar, Bethen lagar North & West, Hanuman Colony, and Anna Encleve.

3` of water is stagnate in Semmanchery are including Classic Sharmp, Tsunami Nagar, Jeppiyar College, Tsunami Nagar 9th & 10th Avenue, Jawahar Nagar, and Ezhilmuganagar. 1` water is stagnant in Mambalam Corporation Colony, Muthurangan Road, and Gilt Road.

Half-a-foot water is stagnated at Virugambakkam are including Majid Nagar, Indira Nagar, Ilango Nagar, and Annai Sathya Nagar.

2` water is stagnant at Pallikkaranai area including Rajesh Nagar, Cheran Nagar, Thyagi Viswanatahan Nagar, Vedanthangal, Noongampalayam, and Pudhuthangal.
1` water is stagnant at Thriuvotriyur High Road Polie Quarte4rs, MRF Check-post, and Nandhi Oodai areas.

1` water remains stagnated at Madhavaram area including Siva-Vishnu Nagar, VGP Santhosham Nagar, Bharathy Nagar, Periyamathur, Puzhal Sarathy Nagar, Manali Baskipalayayam, Manali Pudhunagar, I J Puram, Jennifer Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kargil Nagar, and Rajaji Nagar.

Large quantities of flood waters remain stagnant in Tambaram Mudichur suburban areas, Mugalivakkam, some parts of Velachery and some parts of North Chennai. Most of these areas suffer because there are no proper drainage facilities.

There are no avenues to diver the stagnant water. Hence, discussions are being held to find alternative ways to remove the floods. A decision was to taken to bring large-capacity motor/pumps. Arrangements have been made to air-lift some high-capacity motor/pumps from Delhi. These would be utilised to remove the stagnant flood waters in above areas.

The people who have vacated their flood-affected residences are advised to check the flood situation before moving back to their residences.
