Pandit Aur Pathan is a poetic adaptation of the autobiographies of Ramprasad Bismil and Ashfaqulla Khan, both of whom were leaders of the swadeshi movement against the British Raj and are known for the Kakori incident. The incident took place on August 9th, 1925, when 10 revolutionaries, spearheaded by Bismil, looted the Saharanpur–Lucknow passenger train. The rebels are renowned for their contribution to Urdu poetry and songs like Sarfaroshi Ki Tammana. The play also includes the famous poem Ashfaq Ki Aakhri Raat by Agnivesh Shukla.
