Common entrance test for medical courses not possible this year

For admission to medical courses such as MBBS, BDS,MD and MS. an entrance examinations are being conducted by the State Governments and Central Governments.
Medical Council of India in 2012 announced that all the medical seats in the country should be filled up by national eligibility entrance test.
Private medical colleges challenged it and obtained a Supreme Court ruling that it was not a must for them. The medical council and government filed a review petition against this.
The Supreme Court recalled on Monday a 2013 judgment that quashed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), saying it will consider afresh the constitutional validity of a 2010 Medical Council of India notification mandating a common examination for all dental, undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.
Now the Ministry of Health has announced that there will be national eligibility entrance test this here.
Vice-president Dr C V Bhirmanandham of Medical Council of India said that the council cannot conduct NEET this year.
Dr Bhirmanandham said the council has to issue fresh notifications if it wants to conduct the test for all states. Even if the notification comes within a week, students may not have enough time to prepare. There is no uniformity in education across India and it may be unfair to ask students to appear for a common entrance test which will be based on the CBSE syllabus, without giving them adequate time to prepare, he said.
